PGA At East Lake Golf Club

Atlanta, GA
The Professional Golfers Association comes to the East Lake Golf Club for the FedEx Cup Championship playoffs. The tournament begins on Thursday, September 24 and runs through Sunday, September 27.

The East Lake Golf Club opened in 1904. The course is credited with producing golfing great Bobby Jones as well as 21 national champions. The course and the clubhouse have undergone major renovations as recently as 2008. The course has also suffered extensive damage from the recent drought and, most likely, additional damage from the floods that hit the area over the past weekend.

Let's just hope Tiger Woods doesn't get car-jacked messing around out in east Atlanta.

Tennessee Footballer "Pacman" Jones Gets Away With Smacking Up Lawyer In Atlanta Strip Club

Atlanta, GA
A female attorney who had accused Tennessee Titians footballer Adam "Pacman" Jones of punching her in the eye at an Atlanta strip club in early January has dropped charges against the suspended NFL cornerback, just a month after Jones plead no contest to disorderly conduct charges stemming from a 2007 Las Vegas strip club shooting that left one man paralyzed.

Attorney Wanda Jackson has withdrawn her petition for Jones' arrest. The incident supposedly happened on January 3rd in the office of the Body Tap strip club during a confrontation between Jones and the owners of the club, who Jones had accused of stealing money and jewelry from him.

Jackson had claimed that Jones "sucker punched" her as she watched this confrontation. News agencies were unable to contact her for comments.

Jones has been arrested at least six times since 2005, including two arrests involving violent incidents in Atlanta.

Road Race Organizers Throw Whitey A Bone?

Atlanta, GA
Every July 4th the Atlanta Journal & Constitution along with the Atlanta Track Club host the Peachtree Road Race, a 10k run through the streets of Atlanta. And every July 4th the winner of the race is some Kenyan who the week before was in Africa running from mud hut village to mud hut village with a message scratched on a chicken bone. In 2005 the first place winner was Kenyan. In 2006 the first and second place winners were Kenyan. The prizes for first, second and third place are $15,000, $7,500 and $3,000 respectively. The amounts continue to decrease all the way down to 15th place at $200.

The top three women receive awards ranging from $1000 to $300 while the first five senior citizens finishing receive between $1,500 and $200.

With Kenyans winning the top prizes year after year, the organizers of the race have decided to possibly "throw whitey a bone" by adding in the USA Men's 10K Championship as part of the Peachtree Road Race 2007.

That's right. This year AMERICANS will have a chance to win prizes ranging from $10,000 to $200 for first to fifteenth place at the Peachtree Road Race. Will these Americans be of Kenyan ancestry? Guess we'll know tomorrow.

Atlanta's Star Footballer Video Taped At Dog Fight

Surry County, VA
Atlanta Falcon's quarterback Michael Vick claimed he knew nothing about illegal dog fighting taking place at a home he owns in Virginia after police arrested his cousin during a drug investigation in late April and Animal Control removed 70 dogs from the premises.

Just days after Vick, a registered dog breeder, first proclaimed his innocence, a local store owner in the area came forward saying that the pro footballer had recently been in his store and purchased items related to veterinarian medicine, including syringes.

Now the Virginia Animal Fighting Task Force has revealed that they have video tape of Vick in attendance at one of the vicious dog fights alleged to have been held on the property.

Savage Footballer Faces Animal Abuse Charges

Lawrenceville, GA
An Atlanta football player has been charged with felony animal cruelty following the death of a dog in Gwinnett County.

Jonathan Babineaux, a defensive lineman for the Atlanta Falcons was arrested at an Animal Emergency Center in Lawrenceville on February 18th, after Blair Anderson arrived at the Center with a dead pitbull mix.

Anderson, 24, later told police she had argued with Babineaux earlier in the day and had left their to go and see a movie. While she was out Babineaux called her and told her she should "check on her dog". She said that she had returned from the movies and found "Kilo" in physical distress and that the dog died on the way to the Emergency Center.

Veterinarians at the Center said the dog had suffered extensive head injuries. Police believe that the 25 year old football player, and supposed "role model", acting on savage instincts kicked or punched the animal in the head after arguing with Anderson.

Babineaux arrived at the Center and denied involvement in the crime. He was arrested when police determined that the animal's injuries were not consistent with his account of the incident. He was released the following day after posting $2300.00 bond.

Another pitbull owned by the couple has been taken into the custody of County Officials.
